Frequently Asked Questions
-
What are eDevotionals? eDevotionals are email messages that are sent
daily to members of a congregational subscription group and include daily Bible
texts, inspirational reflections and prayers. The daily reflections and prayers
are written by experienced writers and are reviewed for consistency with our
faith and theology. Richard Beckmen, executive editor of eDevotionals &
Announcements, is a pastor and author and writes about prayer and spirituality.
He is author of A Beginners Guide to Prayer, Praying for Wholeness and Healing,
and has developed a daily devotional program for married couples published by
Thomas Nelson Publishers. Click

Which Bible texts are used?
The daily eDevotionals include one Bible text each day that follow the 3-year
Revised Common Lectionary. The Bible texts presented include a variety of Old
and New Testament texts during the week, a Psalm on Saturdays, and a Gospel
text on Sundays.

How do we add our own congregational announcements?
@Church Announcements are one way of customizing eDevotionals &
Announcements specifically for your congregation. It's now easy to immediately
inform your congregation of member updates, special events, meetings, and
worship times, to name a few. When you start your subscription you will receive
an account and password for eDevotionals.com. The Web site allows you to enter
the news and goings-on at your congregation. In addition, you may select or
customize announcement headings and schedule the announcements for any period
of time. Announcements can run for one day or good-'til-canceled. The
announcements are combined in the same email as the daily eDevotionals and sent
to email addresses on your group email list.
-
What if we don't want to include announcements?
Easy. Just sign up for eDevotionals & Announcements and your congregation
will automatically receive only the Bible texts and eDevotionals daily. No
other effort is required on your part except to sign up congregational members
and friends to your group email list.
-
How do we receive eDevotionals & Announcements?
Each morning your subscribers will find an eDevotionals & Announcements
from your church in their email inbox. Any announcements you submit before
midnight, Central Standard Time, will appear in the next day's eDevotionals
& Announcements from your church. The return email address for your
eDevotionals & Announcements is that of your group administrator. The
Subject or Contents field of the email is the '@' symbol and the name of your
church.
-
What is the advantage of using email announcements?
Your church has many important events on a daily and weekly basis. For example,
congregational members have new babies, become hospitalized, or pass away.
eDevotionals & Announcements help you to be proactive in informing your
congregation of important church related events. Most church members today have
an email account and receiving notices and reminders by email is unobtrusive,
efficient, and convenient. eDevotionals & Announcements is an easy and
up-to-date way to communicate with your congregation without costly,
time-consuming mailings or ineffective bulletin board postings.
-
Who receives eDevotionals & Announcements?
Each member of your congregation with email may be placed on your list. We
provide a printable email list sign-up sheet if you are building the list
yourself. Alternatively, you can announce your unique group code and have
members and friends register themselves via the Join a Group page at the
eDevotionals & Announcements Web site.

Am I the correct person to administer my congregation's subscription?
If you are a member of the church staff or lay leadership and help with the
church's communication ministry, you are a good person to administer your
church's subscription. It's easy to do and takes just a few minutes a week. All
you need is a computer and an Internet connection. Because eDevotionals &
Announcements is Web-based service you can administer your group from any
Internet connected computer anywhere.

-
How do I get members of my congregation on our list?
You have two options: 1) as administrator, you may enter each individual's name
and email address yourself, or 2) give the eDevotionals Web address and group
code to your congregational members and have them register themselves. The
former is recommended if you have a small congregation -- it is much more
proactive. The latter is recommended if you have a large congregation because
it minimizes administrative efforts on your part.
